Weddings are beautiful. They’re emotional, meaningful, and yeah—kind of overwhelming sometimes.

As someone who works closely with couples on one of the biggest days of their lives, I’ve seen firsthand what actually matters (and what ends up being Pinterest stress with zero long-term impact).

So here’s the real talk. These are five things I wish someone had whispered to me before I fell down the rabbit hole of “perfect wedding” expectations.

1. Vendors book out FAST. Like, a year+ fast

If you find someone you love—book them. Don’t wait until you “have more details” or feel like things should be more official. That dream photographer? The florist who gives you chills? They’ll be gone before you know it. Your vendors are your team. Lock in the ones who get you early.

2. Your timeline will run late. Plan for it.

It doesn’t mean your day is ruined. It means someone’s shoe broke, Grandma had to pee, or you needed 5 extra minutes to breathe. Build in buffer time, communicate with your vendor team, and don’t sweat the clock. The best photos often happen in the in-between moments anyway.

3. Everyone will have opinions—and most aren’t helpful.

You don’t need to poll the whole family about your dress, music, or seating chart. Smile. Nod. Then do what feels like you. Because at the end of the day, you’re not trying to win “Most Pleasing to Aunt Linda.” You’re trying to marry your person.

4. You’ll forget stuff. It’s normal.

The candles, the playlist, the vows you swore were burned into your brain? Yeah... write them down. Print backups. Hand them to your best friend. There’s always something that slips through, and it’s okay. That’s what your team is there for.

5. You won’t care about half the stuff you’re stressing over.

Seriously. The font on the place cards? The exact shade of ribbon on your bouquet? Not even a thought once you’re walking down the aisle or sneaking kisses at sunset. What stays with you is the feeling. The people. The emotion.

TLDR?

You’re allowed to plan a day that reflects you—even if it doesn’t check every traditional box.

And if you need someone in your corner who’s down for the beautiful chaos and will capture the in-between moments too? I'm here. No pressure. Just real support.
